Home heating is the most common way for individuals to use biomass energy. Some very efficient wood and pellet boilers and stoves are available. Solar thermal energy can usually be incorporated into such a heating system, too.

Livestock farms have to manage the waste product from their animals. More and more farmers are looking to ways to use the energy from that waste to heat, cool and electrify their operation. Thus changing a waste problem into a biomass resource.

Ethanol and biodiesel can be made from biomass. How to sustainably supply the energy for transportation is one of the biggest problems we face. Ethanol and biodiesel are aimed straight at that problem. It is doubtful that they alone can solve the problem, but it's a step in the right direction. Your thoughts?
